Raphael Varane is the last of the new Real Madrid players, by now. He is an 18-years-old defender with a promising future and an already brilliant present. His main features are his height (191 cm), his versatility, his elegance and his speed.
Varane was formed at the academy of Lens, France. He is the 16th Frenchman to play in Real Madrid and he will join his countrymen Benzema and Lass. He played 23 league games last season, 22 of them as a starter. Also, he scored two goals away from home against Caen and Monaco.
The new Real Madrid player made his international debut with France Under-18s against Denmark and he scored the last goal in a 24 August friendly (2-0). After a second match with the team he was promoted to the Under-21 side and has already played three fixtures with them. The second of these matches was against Spain and he played against the Madridistas Sergio Canales, Nacho Fernandez and Juan Carlos. France won the match 3-2 at Reims' Auguste-Delaune Stadium.
Raphael Varane has already passed the medical check-up and has proved to be healthy and fit. We hope his health keeps as strong as it is and he doesn't have to take any surgery like one of the other new Real Madrid players, Hamit Altintop. He has already signed up the contract with Real Madrid for six seasons with a pen the club gave him away.
Who else would you like to be next Real Madrid signing for 2011/2012?
