Last weekend was excellent for Real Madrid, and terrible for FC Barcelona... After the FC Barcelona defeat against Getafe (1-0) at an away match, Real Madrid takes the leader position with 6 points of difference also thanks to their victory against Atletico de Madrid (4-1).

Earth Hour 2011

The annual Earth Hour, promoted by the World Wildlife Fund , took place last Saturday 26 March to take a stand against the climate change. Real Madrid wanted to join this initiative and the lights of the Santiago Bernabeu stadium were shut off for one hour between 20:30 and 21:30.

Santiago Bernabéu is the son of a group of players who moved to a vacant lot next to the old Madrid bullring iin 1901 and created a football team. In 1912, they turned yet another vacant lot on O’Donnell Street into the best football pitch in Madrid.

In 1924, the Club decided to build the Old Chamartín Stadium, with capacity for 15,000 people and where Real Madrid played for 23 years.
